The Whisnants History

The Whisnants started recording in the early 1980s. The original group was called "The John Whisnant Family" at this time. The John Whisnant family included John Whisnant, his wife Betty and their two sons Jeff and John Jr.
In 1988 Susan Dry Whisnant joined the group after marrying Jeff. By 1989 John and Betty retired from traveling with the group and the name was shortened to "The Whisnants" as they are currently known.
There have been very few staff changes of the years.
The Whisnants traveled with Jeff, John and Susan until 1993 when John answered God's call to ministry and began pastoring a church in their home town of Morganton, NC.
When John left the group in 1993 Curt Davis joined to sing the lead part and remained with the group until 2001. At this time Aaron Hise joined the group and is still currently singing lead.
The Whisnants traveled with Eric Ollis as pianist between the years of 2004 and 2011.
Jeff and Susan's sons Austin and Ethan travel with the group and are following in their parents foot steps. They have released albums of their own which can be found on this website by following the link above.
