Gold City History

Gold City started in 1980 after a name change from a previous group called the Christianairs who were based in Mississippi. The original group owner was Floyd Beck. The original members of the group were Tenor - Bob Oliver, Lead - Jerry Ritchie, Baritone - Ken Trussell, and Bass - Dallas Gilliland. In 1980 the group relocated to Georgia and Tim Riley began singing the bass position. One of the most iconic lineups for Gold City came in the early 1990s with the addition of Tenor singer Brian Free, and Lead Singer Ivan Parker.

Tim Riley began managing the group in 1984 and relocated the group home once again This time establishing their headquarters in Alabama. During this time frame Gold City had several very popular songs. These songs include; "I Think I'll Read It Again," " Joshn Saw," "Midnight Cry" and "In My Robe Of White."

The Next big lineup for Gold City came in the mid 1990s with changes in tenor, lead and baritone positions. Jay Parrack began signing tenor with the group in 1994 and remained until 2004. Mark Trammell Stepped into the baritone position in 1994 also and remained until 2002 when he left to form his own group, The Mark Trammell Trio (currently The Mark Trammell Quartet). The other 1990's addition was lead singer Jonathan Wilburn.

In 2004 another big change occurred, group manager and bass singer Tim Riley announced his retirement. At this time management of the group was turned over to Tim's two sons, Doug Riley and Daniel Riley. Gold City stopped traveling with a full band in 2005. Since this time Gold City has traveled with a painist only and used tracks for accompanying music.

In 2006 sound engineer and co-manager Doug Riley was killed in an automobile accident. This of course was a rough stage for Gold City. Doug had been traveling with the group as a drummer since 1989 and had recently switched to the position of sound engineer in 2005.

In 2009 Tim Riley left retirement and returned to sing with the group where he remained until 2014. At this time the bass position was sang by Chris West. The current lineup for Gold City can be found at the top of this page.
