I just wanted to take a few minutes and review the newest CD from The Erwins
titled "Ready To Sail." Hopefully this post will give a brief highlight of the cd and
will help anyone who hasn't listened to it or isn't sure whether to purchase it or not.
I saw this group for the first time at The Whisnants homecoming on Feb 28 of this
year. I purchased their cd that night and have been listening to it since. I have been
wanting to do a review of the cd for a few weeks and time has been getting away
from me. So I finally got a chance to work on it. Anyone who has feedback I would love to hear what you have to say.
I don’t want this to turn into a group review but I must say I was blown away by the group. Their stage presence was remarkable, their voice incredible but above all else what impressed me was the way they presented themselves off stage as well. My uncle and I went out to meet and greet during the intermission and everyone from the group was approachable and spoke, they shook hands asked our name and various things about us. When we stopped back by on the way out that night they had remembered who we were and our names. Shook our hand once again and made sure we had enjoyed the evening. So I would say it is great to see a young group who really love the Lord and the people they minister to.
Now as for the CD.
There are several songs that I loved right off the bat, and a few I honestly had to listen to a few times and focus on the words to fall in love with. The music and tracts are great, vocals are incredible but all of that doesn’t matter if the message in the songs were to miss the mark. And this CD delivers on all fronts.
There are several songs on the cd that deal directly with following God and the plans that he has for our lives. I believe sometimes that is a very hard task for us to do. God’s plans don’t always seem to be the most comfortable and are often scary but when we do as he wants us to do he will bless us far more than we could ever imagine.
The song “I choose to be a Christian” is incredible. It really makes a point about standing for God and choosing to live every day for him, despite adversity.
I am normally terrible at picking a favorite song on any album I listen to. There are so many good songs that it is often impossible for me to say “this is my favorite” because at different times different songs minister to me in various ways. On this Cd I can say my favorite song is “Take him at his word”. On the cd it features Ernie Haase, Who sings with his own group Ernie Haase and Signature Sound, and was formerly with The Cathedral Quartet before the group disbanded at the end of the 1990s. This song just really hits me with the message of standing for Christ and trusting the word of God. The second verse pulls from The story in Daniel 3 with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and really helps to drive home the point.
There is not a bad song on the CD. If you haven’t purchased it yet I would definitely recommend putting it at the top of your purchase list. Some of the songs can also be previewed on youtube. Also find the group on facebook and let them know that you appreciate the stand they take and the ministry that they have.
Hopefully I will have a few more reviews to do and I know Michael is working to do a few as well. If there are any albums you would like us to review let us know and we will try to put them on our list as well.
Hope everyone has a great week
